RICHARD BEST ARCHITECT was begun in 1988 and now serves commercial, civic and residential clients, interior designers and general contractors in the Los Angeles area.
Richard A. Best, Jr. AIA, (PRINCIPAL) a resident of California for over 20 years, became licensed to practice architecture in 1986, and nationally certified in 1989.
Richard received his Masters of Architecture degree (specialising in Urban Design) from UCLA’s Graduate School of Architecture & Urban Planning and mentored under world-renowned architect Charles Moore. In 1981 Richard was awarded a UCLA scholarship to attend the International Laboratory of Architecture & Urban Design.
As a project designer apprentice to Charles Moore for the Beverly Hills Civic Center Competition, Richard was a part of the winning competition entry. Subsequently, as an architect for WZMH Architects, Richard was the project architect for the renovation/restoration of Riverside’s Mission In—a National Landmark.
Carmel McFayden received her Bachelor of Planning & Design (1991) and her Bachelor of Architecture (1993) at the University of Melbourne, Parkville, AUSTRALIA. She has worked for Los Angeles firm, Altoon + Porter Architects, specializing in retail. For the last five years she has worked as Project Architect with Richard Best Architect, assisting with design through construction administration on the Venice Beach Oceanfront walk redevelopment and a variety of residential & commercial projects.
